Kinopy is a daily link puzzle shaped like a plant. Each puzzle has two boards that share one seed. The seed sits on the soil line. The Rootlet grows down from it as roots. The Sapling grows up from it, and gives you one guess fewer. You swap tiles, link pairs, and tap Submit. A right pair turns green. A hint in the sky points at the seed. Kinopy has five modes: Kompanion, catKin, Kalyx, Klimber and sKion. Each mode has its own daily. The game runs in the browser, and a guest can play today's daily in every mode.
The five modes
Each mode has its own kind of pair.
- Kompanion: two tiles make a phrase or a compound word. POINT and BLANK make point blank.
- catKin: two fragments make one word. PAN and TRY make pantry.
- Kalyx: two numbers and the operator between them make a number. 3 × 4 makes 12.
- Klimber: two words differ by one letter. COLD and CORD are a pair. On the Sapling, a link can also add or drop a letter.
- sKion: a word branches to words that start with its last three or more letters. PICNIC and NICKEL are a pair.
