Kinopy privacy

Last updated on 25 October 2026.

Kinopy is a small daily puzzle of words and numbers. It shows no ads, and it sells no data. This page says what Kinopy keeps, why, and how you can clear or delete it.

On your device

Kinopy keeps your results, streaks, boards in progress and settings on this device, in your browser. It also keeps a random code there. When you sign in, this device also keeps a copy of your account progress and a list of changes that wait to save. All of this stays on this device until you sign out or clear your browser's site data.

The move to kinopy.day

Kinopy used to run at kinopy.tetsuhiro.dev. When you open the old address, that page copies your results, streaks, boards in progress, settings and tree code into the link to kinopy.day. Your browser keeps that part of the link and sends it to no server. Kinopy saves the copy on this device and removes it from the address bar. Your account copy does not move. Sign in again on kinopy.day, and your account brings it back.

Help tune puzzles

When you tap Submit in a daily, Kinopy can send the pairs you try. The Help tune puzzles switch in Settings controls this. For each guess, Kinopy sends:

Kinopy sends no name, no email and no account. We use the pairs only to rate how hard each pair is, so future puzzles play fairly. You can turn the Help tune puzzles switch off in Settings. Your own choice always wins. If you make no choice, a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal from your browser keeps it off.

Signing in with Google

Signing in is optional. A guest plays today's daily. An account also opens the Calendar, the past dailies and Endless. Your account keeps your progress on every device.

When you sign in, Google gives Kinopy your account id, your name, your email address and a link to your Google account photo. Firebase Authentication keeps them with your sign-in. The Account sheet shows your name and photo on your own device. Kinopy shows your email to no one else.

The Kinopy database keeps your progress under your account id:

The Kinopy database holds no name, no email and no photo. The Look setting, the Help tune puzzles switch and the note that you saw How to play stay on each device. They never save to your account.

Where Kinopy runs

Kinopy runs on Google Firebase. Firebase Hosting delivers Kinopy to your browser, and Firebase Authentication handles sign-in. Cloud Firestore in Singapore keeps the pairs you send and your account progress. Google processes all of this for Kinopy under its own terms. Like any web host, Firebase Hosting sees your IP address when it sends you a page.

Signing out

Open the Account sheet and tap Sign out. Kinopy first saves your last changes to your account. If some changes cannot save, Kinopy asks before it signs you out. Kinopy then removes the account copy from this device, and this device starts again as a fresh guest. Your account keeps its progress, and your next sign-in brings it back.

Deleting your account

Open the Account sheet, tap Delete account and type DELETE. Kinopy then deletes every saved daily, your stats, your settings and your account in Firebase Authentication. Google can ask you to confirm your sign-in first. This device then plays as a guest. You cannot undo a deletion.

The pairs you sent with Help tune puzzles stay, because they hold no link to your account. We cannot tell which pairs are yours. You can also ask us for a deletion at the contact below.

Clearing this device

To remove what Kinopy keeps on this device, clear the site data for kinopy.day in your browser.
